Q: What is Opptee™ Travel Search?
Opptee Travel Search is an app that allows you to check multiple sites quickly to ensure you find the best deals. Simply provide your destination and dates, pick your favorite sites and let Opptee execute the searches for you.
Unlike other search providers who scratch the surface to list biased, pay-to-play results, Opptee lets YOU choose which sites to search, including direct travel suppliers (hotels, airlines, vacation rentals) and aggregators.
Opptee is a unique approach to travel search. Like having a Personal Travel Assistant, Opptee gives you access to more search sites than any other app, helping you find the best deals quicker and easier.
Q: Why should I use Opptee instead of Expedia, Priceline, Trivago or Booking.com when searching for hotels?
It’s best to search many sites to find the best option for your accommodations. Why search only one aggregator when you can easily search several? Opptee allows you to quickly search sites like Expedia, Priceline, Trivago, and Booking.com all at the same time, and compare the results with the top hotel chains and private rental sites, such as VRBO and Airbnb.
Opptee makes comparison shopping a lot easier, by providing all these sites within a single app. There is no longer a need to open multiple sites in multiple tabs in your browser, or to install multiple apps.
Q: Why should I use Opptee instead of Priceline, CheapTickets, Expedia or SkyScanner when searching for flights?
As with hotels, it’s best to search multiple aggregator sites as well as the airlines themselves, to make sure you find the best option. Opptee makes it easy to search sites like Priceline, CheapTickets, Expedia, and SkyScanner and compare them against pricing and routing options offered by the airlines themselves. Using Opptee, you can search your favorite sites, and try a couple of new ones you may not have heard of before, quickly and easily.
Q: Why should I use Opptee when searching for Car Rentals, Vacation Packages, and Cruises?
Opptee provides access to aggregator and Online Travel Agent (OTA) sites that specialize in car rentals, vacation packages, and cruises. You may not be aware of the different options when searching for these aspects of travel. As with flights and hotels, don’t rely on one source. Use Opptee to quickly and easily search multiple options to ensure you find the best deal.
For example, when searching for a car rental, search on carrentals.com, expedia and a couple of direct car rental companies such as Alamo and Hertz. For cruises, search on cruise.com, cruisesonly.com, orbitz, and compare to your favorite cruise lines. Searching this many sites has been time consuming in the past but Opptee makes it quick and easy ensuring you uncover the best deals.
Q: While using Opptee, I see five icons at the bottom of the screen. What are these for?
Search – indicates the type of search you are performing. (flight, hotel, cruise, car rental, vacation). Should you wish to change the dates, location, or any other parameter, click on “Search” to return to the input screen
+ Add Sites – use this to search another site. Click “+ Add Sites” to return to the extensive list of options and choose another one. Repeat this as many times as you wish until you are confident that you have found the best option.
Home– return to the Opptee dial to start searching Flights, Hotels, Car Rentals, etc.
Results – view the list of sites that you have already searched and easily switch between them.
Share – Let your friends know about Opptee!
Q: I’ve searched one site and would like to search additional ones. How do I do this?
Simply click on “+ Add Sites” (icon at the bottom of the screen) and choose another site to search. Repeat this for as many sites as you’d like.
Note: On Windows, you can choose up to 4 sites at one time. Click on “+ Add Sites” to choose up to another 4.
On phones and tablets you can choose one site at a time. Continue clicking on “+ Add Sites” to add a 3rd, 4th, 5th etc. search provider.
Q: Occasionally, it seems to take awhile for a search to complete on the site I’ve chosen. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process?
Behind the covers, Opptee is opening up a “browser” window to the site that you’ve requested and executing a search on that site, using the information that you provided. Sometimes, this process can be slow due to the strength of your device, a slow connection to the network or a slow down at the site itself. Connecting to wifi often helps. But, please be patient, Opptee is always much faster than using a regular browser or multiple apps.
When you have ruled out a site (no results, or nothing that interests you), it is best to close it before adding another. Think of each site that you’ve searched as having another browser tab open – closing these sites helps performance like closing browser tabs in a browser.
Q: How do I book through Opptee?
Once you have uncovered the best deal, complete the booking process through the site that you’ve chosen by interacting with it just as you would if you were booking through a regular browser.
Reservations and payment are made directly with the site that you’ve chosen, not with Opptee. Should you have existing reward accounts (such as Expedia, United Air, Hilton) you can use points to book or you may continue to accumulate your reward points.
Q: I chose a site to search but when I select “results” for that site, nothing is shown.
This can happen for a couple of reasons.
- The site does not offer options that meet your search criteria. (ie. airline doesn’t fly to the desired location, or on the desired dates, incorrect airport code). In this case, modify your search criteria and try again. Or, close that site (click x) and try another site.
- Something changed at the site and Opptee is now “out of synch” with it. This should rarely happen but, if it does, please use “Send Feedback” from the Opptee Menu to tell us which site isn’t working and we will quickly investigate.
Q: Can I save the history of my searches?
Yes, searches are automatically saved. You can access them using the History feature that allows you to view all the searches you have done in the past. Simply click on the icon and choose the search that you wish to revisit. You will need to select the search providers again, and re-execute the search, as prices are continually changing.
You may also create an account with Opptee (Menu / Login) and share your history across all devices that you have Opptee installed on. This will allow you to research on your Windows PC, ipad/tablet and phone, and access the same searches on each.
Q: When I get to the list of sites, I see a lot of choices! Can I save them as favorites so they’re quicker to access next time?
Your “most recently used” sites are kept at the top of the site list. If you use Opptee to search the same five sites all the time, those sites will be at the top of the list the next time you use Opptee.
Q: I’m searching from Canada and, at times, the currency is shown in US dollars. How can I fix this?
Not all search sites provide the option for showing pricing in CAD. Although Opptee allows you to select your currency in settings, if the site doesn’t provide pricing in CAD, we don’t do any conversions. Please pay close attention to the currency that is being used by the sites you’re exploring to ensure you are comparing similar currencies.
Q: I see that I can book a car, flight and hotel together but can I book just a flight and car or just a hotel and car or any other combination?
Yes, Click on Packages (center icon) on the Opptee dial. At the top of the form, choose the combination that you would like (flight+hotel; flight+hotel+car; flight+car).
Q: I’ve selected too many search options! How to I remove a search provider from my results?
In windows, go to “results” and simply click on the “x” on the top right corner of the provider you wish to remove.
Q: I have set a price alert for my flight searches, but I am not getting any notifications. Am I doing something wrong?
We’ll only notify you if we’re successful in finding a lower price than the one that you already saw. Rest assured that we’ll let you know if we find something.
